The Rise of Moloch aka Cold Case Cracker; New Orleans, Louisiana
A "psychic" named Raymond Bond has been making waves in the psychic community as of late. He's helped authorities obtain evidence and information that has lead to arrests on 13 separate unsolved homicide cases, across the country, over the last 3 months. He's now in New Orleans working on his 14th case. He's gaining a reputation among law enforcement as well. The extra weird bit is that, according to insider sources, he requires to see the body and be alone with the deceased in order to help with his "visions". It's only due to his success rate and reputation of success that this even stands with most departments.
It's summertime and it's hot, damn hot! We find a hotel and get settled. We do some research on Raymond to get to know him and see if we can track him down. Connie goes to check out some voodoo shops to ask around about hm. She also orders some extra African dream root. Carter hacks the PD to see if they have any video or audio files recording what he is doing with the bodies. The cameras were all covered when he went in and there was no audio. Cal finds that he has only been doing this type of work for the past 2 years. He's into some a cult stuff but nothing crazy. Carter hacks his credit to see where he goes frequently. He has been going to a particularly townie bar for the past few nights. Medical records don't show anything weird happening to him prior to being a psychic. Cases he has worked are a very new cases, nothing similar with the victims. Mina discovers that he started doing this around the same time that we released psyonics into the world. He could legit have psychic abilities.
Find out the the bar he is frequenting is called the rusty trombone a dive bar for old musicians. Everyone decides that Mina should talk him up and distract him while Connie tries to get a ping on psyonics and carter hacks his cell phone. He is sitting at the bar wearing a three piece suit and leather gloves.
Mina and Connie go into the bar, Mina posing as a fan girl and Connie as the bored friend. Toby sits at the bar by himself, Marcus cal and carter wait out side. After a bit carter walks in to join Toby. Mina asks Raymond to sing a copy of ha book and talk to him about how much a fan she is. Connie and carter both try to detect psyonics and magic at the same time. They immediately both pass the fuck out!! Cal rushes in to tend to them. Raymond offers to he'll get Connie outside so we can get in the car to get medical help. While cal talks up Raymond and gets info about him. We also noticed that Raymond has a briefcase with him and it is handcuffed to his arm.
Toby goes back into the bar and observes him. He just drinks and hangs out. 2 hours later Connie and carter finally wake up but it takes another 30 min to get all their faculties back. . Mina checks the signature in the book and compares it to some old checks she hacks, they are the same.
Raymond leaves the bar and Toby follows him to his hotel. About 5 miles down the road. He relays this info to carter to hack the BnB he is staying at. Nothing funny found.
Next morning Connie decides to call Raymond at the hotel. He doesn't answer she leaves a message with the hotel clerk asking him to call Elizabeth. He calls back about an hour later. He is suspicious about how she found him but he agrees to meet her at the cafe around the corner. Marcus leaves early and gets there first.
Connie meets him and they sit outside. She tells him about the Big Bang that released psyonics. She is freaking him out and he tries to get up but Marcus comes by and blocked him from leaving. He is gripping his briefcase tighter and tighter. Connie calls carter to bring Acuros to help explain the situation. She convinces him to go back to the bnb. Carter meets them there and Raymond recognizes him for the bar the day before. They go in to the bnb and get a small private parlor. They bring Acuros out and Connie tries to ping him and nothing happens. Connie is slightly freaking...then Acuros says boo! God damn Acuros. Acuros floats across to him. Raymond thinks this is a parlor trick.
Acuros says hello. And Raymond starts to realize what's going on. Connie tells him more about her past. Connie tells him the the thing in his briefcase is not complete and he needs to be carful. He is agreeable to letting carter and Connie see the artifact but they cannot touch it. He opens the case and they see a glove with claws and Mae of leather and metal. He asks them to turn off their phones before he proceeds ad makes sure there are no wires.
He tells the. That this gauntlet gives him the ability to speak to the dead and have the. Tell him what they remember. It's harder when they have been dead for a while. He feels tried after he uses it but it's not too bad. He said that he saw what looked like a shooting star and found where it landed and that's where the gauntlet was. He was just outside Wichita falls Texas Acuros looks at it and says it is both magical and psyonic, it's definitely and artifact and it gives him the creeps.
Acuros tries to ping Raymond and Raymond passes out. Carter examines Raymond's hand it is narrled looking and black veins running up his arms and them cluster at his hart. Raymond wakes and is a little disoriented splashes water on his face. Thy tell him to rest the rest of the day and give him carters number to use if he needs anything.
The group convenes back at the hotel and goes over prions of what this could be from. Demonic angelic possibly use soles or is changing Raymond into something.
Carters phone rings at 3 am it's Raymond and he is in trouble. Marcus was sitting outside of the bnb. Toby had gone to see Marcus and send him home to sleep. Carter Connie and Mina had been out to Bourbon street but called it a early night and were back at the hotel when the call came in. Tony and Marcus break into the bnb and go to the third floor where they see his door is cracked. All the doors on the second floor were open, weird. The hear some commotion and go toward the bedroom area. Ray is sitting on the edge of the bed with the gauntlet on. Toby says we need to get the gaunt off of you ray and goes to grab the glove. The gauntlet is fast and it grabs Toby by the arm. He is pushed and thrown through the bedroom door.
The gauntlet rips open rays shirt and the the black veins have spread and are bigger. Suddenly a hand rips out or rays chest and grabs his arm something is crawling out of ray like he is a portal. Marcus takes a swipe with his cleaver it breaks in two. His second cleaver also breaks. He pulls a stun gun and fires. No immediate effect but it is still pulling itself through. Tony runs out the door to get to Marcus's car. The thing rips Raymond apart and comes through. Marcus stabs the thing in the head and runs to follow Toby.
Marcus jumps down the flights of stars the things is following and is so tall it breaks the top of the door frame. As he catches up with Toby he says that is fucking Moloch. Marcus gets to his car pulls a shotgun from the trunk and fills it with salt and iron and fires. It burns him but doesn't effect him. He is still walking towards him and everything is catching on fire. Toby and Marcus getting the car and drive slowly away, moloch does not follow he is headed in a different direction. They follow him slowly pushing behind to see where he is headed. It goes a little ways and the. Disappears leaving only smoke.
